Nu Tone gets 5/5 from iDJ Mag

It’s quite interesting that while the whole industry has gone download mad, most pro sample collections require placing an order and waiting days for a disc to show up. Or perhaps doing something crazy like going to a real shop to buy one! So it’s a welcome surprise to encounter a well-respected manufacturer of sample CDs releasing a collection online only. And ‘Nu:tone – Drum & Bass Vol. 1’ is quite a collection.

DnB maestro Nu:Tone is renowned for offering up tasty beats, bass and more jazzy licks than Ella Fitzgerlad in an ice-cream factory, and this package doesn’t disappoint. And the bass and beats in particular impress.

Breakbeat is on the rise these days, drum & bass has always been ticking over nicely, and if you make any variation of either you’ll almost certainly find something useful in here.

Anybody else who needs an interesting selection of beats and breaks to break the monotomy of electro, prog and pop could do worse than downloading this selection. Fire them up and engage in a bit of cross-genre pollination.

And when you get bored of it, don’t despair – the ‘Vol. 1’ suffix suggests another volume is on the way soon…

Rating 5/5
