Electro House Underground Reviewed at Music Tech Mag

It seems that not a month goes by without a truckload of new ‘electro’ samples compilations appearing on our desks. However, Wave Alchemy’s first release through Loopmasters is arguably the definitive electro-house sample collection – a selection that is so ‘now’ it may be out-of-date by tomorrow, but if that is the sound you’re after, it doesn’t get much better than this.

The pack consists of 1.5GB of 24-bit, 44.1KHz samples in WAV, and REX2 formats. These include tech bass loops, electro leads, tempo-sync’ed FX and more than 300 drum and percussion loops. In addition to this there are 56 patches ready to play in Reason NN-XT, HALion, Kontakt, SFZ and EXS formats. A very complete pack of synths, drums and hits, this library could be used to build an entire electro hit from the ground up.

While the drum sounds are solid and dependable, there’s arguably little here that most of us have not already acquired in our favourite DAW or sampler. Where this pack really shines, though, is in the quality of the synth loops. The mastered finish of the bass loops is truly exceptional, with inventive use of reverb sends, multiple synth sounds and panning. Some loops even have sidechain compression already applied, giving them a bold, pumping quality guaranteed to rock any dancefloor.

Electro House Underground is a very high-quality release indeed, but the included samples will make you sound like any other electro producer – albeit a very, very good one!

Verdict: A solid electro house collection with a first-class polished sound. We look forward to more…
