Audio-loop.net Review Of Aquasky Electro House & Breaks
These boys if by any chance you have not heard of them, are well at the top of their game in the breaks/electro world of production. Having got together way back in the mid 90's, the three friends Brent Newitt, Kieron Bailey and Dave Wallace started their onslaught in the drum + bass scene releasing tracks with the likes of Moving Shadow and Reinforced Records. Later moving across to the breaks scene to forge their own take on this style.
The sample disc itself is the sort of thing you would expect from a production/dj outfit like them. Full to the brim of well made exciting loops. Included in the massive collection is breaks and electro drum loops in a variety of formats to suit any sampler to use with all DAW types. Bass samples and loops again in all formats, melodic sounds and fx's and a great collection of vocals from Bex and the legendary Ragga Twins. The formats are all listed below

So, the drum loops really impressive collection of detailed well made loops. For those maybe new to production this giving you a chance to make your tracks sound a touch more professional. If you're a Logic user the loops also come as Apple Loops which when loaded in to your sequencer do not even require stretching as they will fit to what ever your project BPM is. For the more adventurous they also come in REX format this when placed onto sequencer giving you the advantage to manipulate the hits individually, and recreate a fresh new loop.Plus with all the sampler drum kit files for EXS, Halion etc. you are not going to be limited on what you can do with them. Also within the folders are superb drum fills and FX to make any project sound awesome.
The bass loops and bass one shots are exceptional as well, there being over 180 one shot samples and over 50 bass loops. These being really well made and very professionally sounding loops and hits. Anyway it's OK having all these sounds to use but it would be really nice to know how these lads to their stuff. It just so happened Brent from the trio is a very old friend from where I grew up in the New Forest. Not having seen him for many years since we used to go raving ect back in the day, I thought I'd send him a email to try and find out what stuff they use in the studio an how they also create some of their bass sounds. The response was quick and very detailed and id like to thank them for the info supplied, so this is what they said:
We use PCs running cubase - that's been the core of our production since about 1995 when cubase version 1 for window came out!
A lot of people ask how we make our bass sounds. The source of our bass sounds is usually a simple sine, square or saw tooth wave (this habit stems back from when we used all hardware and our bass sounds came from an Akai S3000 XL sampler - this had built in sine, square, and saw waves which we used a lot for our bass. We even sampled these basic waves and they are in the loopmasters collection you are reviewing. So we use these wave samples in Kontakt (software sampler) or we use the stand alone A1 soft synth that used to come bundled with Cubase (they don't include it any more but it still works if you grab the .ddl file of it and bung it in the VST plugins folder).
On the Loopmasters DVD if we didn't use the above for bass sounds then they came from a Korg MS20 VST or Discovery VST or we just found them from old
Aquasky tracks!
We also processed a lot of the bass sounds usually with a distortion plugin and then some EQ done internally with Cubase.
On to the vocals next, these are an outstanding collection of vocals from Bex and the Ragga Twins. The Bex ones all come with root key, and are really nice and well sung. The Ragga Twins one are also superb, these guys are legends and been in the game for years. Their vocals come in 3 different length types, short, medium and long, this giving you quite a variety to choose from.
You also get over 160 inspirational music loops again really well made loops along with 200 instrument hit sounds for use in your samplers, as well as a free track and samples from that track "Have a good time". Like I said earlier the stuff is brimming out of the disc giving you so much to use or choose from. It really is a great disc and even at the Loopmasters price of nearly £40, I would still say it's definitely worth buying and good value for money. A definite 10/10 for this great disc from Aquasky, and I would like to thank the lads from Aquasky for the info supplied.
