412limited Review of Progressive House & Future Tech
As part of our special on the Loopmasters website we'll be reviewing several of their loop packs across the pages of the 412 website. As this is the house and electro section of the site, here you'll find our thoughts on one of the best packs available for Progressive House Producers, the Loopmasters 'Progressive House and Future Tech' pack. The pack is designed to include the ultimate in building blocks for creating Progressive House and Futuristic Techno music.
I'm not really much of a progressive house kinda guy really but I thought i'd give this pack a review and see if I could be clinical enough in my review to try and pinpoint some of the good points about this product. The first good point to make is that its around a gig and half of music samples... thats a lot of sounds and even for someone who isn't really into producing progressive house, its easy to find loops that you can use in any project.
Versatility is what I'm always looking for when i review sample packs, so I often try and use the sounds in completely different types of music and see how they work out. The pads in particular were very useful as the range of atmospheres you can create with them is quite broad and they also all sound pretty good when pitched up and down to different speeds. The 'Synth Multis' folder is also good for this same purpose, although they do fade out quite quickly and so are more adept for using in samplers than simply laying into a track for atmosphere.
The pack contains the following: 90 Bass Loops, 400 Drum Loops, 90 Chord And Stab Loops, 80 Lead Lines - as well as 459 Single Sounds including: 42 Pads, 20 Chord Stabs, 300+ Single Drum Samples, 26 FX, 80 Multi-sampled Bass, Leads and Pads, 45 Ready-to-play Patches for Reason NNXT, HALion, Kontakt, EXS and SFZ. This pack is also available in the following formats: Reason Refill, Apple Loops and Ableton Live version.
As with so many of these packs the single hits are where the real gold lies in store. The drum hits are all top quality and in particular the percussion folder has more than a few gems hidden inside. A nice variety of sounds and several recordings of every sound make it quite a useful folder - highly useful for any type of house, garage, minimal or even a world music orientated composition.
Loopmasters are one of the best sample sites on the internet and with good reason. The packs they provide are from quality producers and companies, their prices are reasonable and should you lose the samples they are stored in your account area in case you need to download them again. A serious website for serious producers. Check it out.
