Weareblahblahblah.com Review: Nu School Deep House

Deep House has had made one heck of a comeback in the last year or so, with producers such as Maya Jane Coles, Jamie Jones, Maceo Plex, Julio Bashmore and Tales Of Us leading the way in what can only be classed as a reinvention of the Deep House genre, and now arguably the sound of 2012.

In light of this re-emergence of deep house it should come as no surprise that one of the leading sample houses 'Loopmasters.com' has put together and released a comprehensive Deep House package - "Nu School Deep House". The sample pack explores and embraces the best elements of Nu-Disco, Deep Tech, Electronica and Techno to forge sounds that can easily be related to labels like Get Physical, Hot Creations, Crosstown Rebels and Hypercolour.

The sample pack is 24 bit quality and has 1GB of material including 154 Bass loops, 300 Drum Loops, 65 Music Loops, 54 Vocal Loops, 24 Fx Hits, 438 Drum Hits, 7 Multi Sampled Synth Instruments, 7 Multi sampled Bass Instruments, 573 Rex2 files and 39 Soft Sampler Patches for Kontakt, Halion, Exs24, Nnxt and Sfz Formats which is more than enough to get your hands dirty very quickly.

The first thing we always do when purchasing a sample pack is check out the drum hits and loops as these form the back bone of any good house track, and if they're not up to standard it's safe to assume the rest of the track will suffer as a consequence. In this instance Loopmasters have done a spectacular job, crafting together some extremely well produced loops and beats, with killer grooves a plenty and hits ranging from classic 909 samples all the way up to the more futuristic sounds you would hear in a Minimal Techno track.

We were also impressed by the Synth loops and sampled instruments included, again produced immaculately. They cover a vast range of analogue sounds and therefore alongside the loops and drum hits discussed above, give the user the ability to conceive and execute ideas quickly and efficiently, which for those of you still honing your production skills can be an invaluable resource.

The only slight disappointment were the vocal samples included, a little generic and uninspiring, however this is a minor quibble in what is overall an extremely diverse and engaging sample pack which sparked our imagination instantly. The drum loops are some of the best we've heard and the synth loops and patches are also very impressive. It should also be noted that the sounds have a much broader applicability than the primary genre they are targeted at, so don't be put off if your not a Deep House head.
