Future Music Review: Dubstep Drums
Turkish urbanista Utku S. delivers a pack from the hard breaks influenced end of the Dubstep spectrum.
Each kit includes the full loop, a kick-free version, a kick-only version, a ‘tops’ version, etc, with some bundling a set of double-time versions too. The file naming isn’t hugely helpful, with each loop mysteriously numbered rather than properly named.
The programming throughout is tight and the sounds range from head-noddingly solid to... well, a bit generic in places, particularly some of the ride cymbals and hi-hats. This isn’t actually too much of an issue though, as the high level of consistency from kit to kit makes the whole package a veritable playground of mix-and-match layering — great fun and genuinely productive.
A tasty extra is also included in the shape of 50 excellent dubstep bass loops - some may even find these more useful than the headlining drums!
8/10
