Producer Essentials review from CM 8/10
"With a name like ‘Producer Essentials’, you’d expect there to be a pretty wide ranging selection of samples here, and so there are: multisamples, effects, stabs and loops. It ships on a single CD in .wav and ReCycle! formats. This is a decent selection of usable samples that could provide good building blocks.
Comprehensive instrument multisamples cover a good spread of ‘workhorse’ bases: electric and acoustic guitars; keyboards and synths; strings and woodwind; and of course, the inevitable bass instruments. Many of these are presented as patches for Reason’s NN-XT sampler, so users of this app can quickly get up and running. All of the multis are single-layered and are not particularly complex in their mapping. There are a few bum ones in here – some have too much air and others flap about – and we were a touch disappointed to find no loop or root information embedded in the multis. However, this is offset by some fantastic sounds, in particular, some of the guitars and the strings. Couple these with a good selection of unprocessed drum loops, breaks and fills, a wide range of effects and a healthy splattering of .rex files and you’ve got a sound investment."
