Dave From Full Cycle In LM Interview
Where and how did you put together the Full Cycle Sample CD package for Loopmasters?
The project has grown over 2 years, starting at the FullCycle studio complex in Bristol. All the drums were recorded live through a variety of vintage outboard (Neve, Tube Tech , SSL, etc.).
Once captured the recordings were processed and edited in ProTools. Drums and sounds were cut up and looped to drum and bass tempo's.
How do you normally start to make a track, what ignites the writing process?
We usually start with our pallette of sounds in our arsenal , sometimes we get inspired from a bass sound or drum loop created previously.
How do you setup for the live show and what and who is involved?
Normally we rehearse prior to the first gig on a tour and will have a warm show near home. We are 8 people strong on stage, 3 keys and samples (Roni playing bass lines, D Product playing sound fx's and key samples, Jay playing piano and strings). Mr.Uv Ray on drums, Si John on the electric an stand up bass. Pete Joseph on guitar. And we couldn't Reprazent without Dynamite Mc and Onallee on vocals. We are 100% live we use no drum loops or playback.
How has Full Cycle changed over the years and what is FC all about in 2009?
Fullcycle started as a producers' collective. Everybody had a role in the group and a speciality. Naturally over time people grow and progress and reach a point where they want to discover themselves as individuals. This led to having 5 studios in the complex instead of just the one central studio.
As for 2009 its all about the LOOPMASTERS DVD and the next Reprazent album.
How do you see the current state of Drum and Bass?
Drum and bass is nowadays having a revival thanks to new technologies and their accessability, allowing music such as dubstep to come through.
Have you found any cool music software recently we should be using?
Recently we have got hold of Rob Papens's new soft synth (Sub Bass Boom). Naughty!
What is your hardware setup?
