A Few Words From Kit / Push Button Bang

Infinite Element is a massive library. Over 4500 presets for Reason! How long did that take you to produce?

Its been in the making for a long time, over a year at least.

What went across your mind when you stepped up to make such a library? Was it out of your own need?  Or the need to share your expertise with the producers’ community? Or just a plain challenge?

It started as an exercise in seeing what reason could really do. The more you experiment the more that becomes apparent, so pretty soon it became evident there was a lot not being touched on with other refills. The goal became to make a sound production tool for reason that would really showcase its potential in regards to electronic music.

Tell us about Push Button Bang. How many people are in this Sound Design project and how do you balance your workload?

We are a new company, so there are only a few of us. I do most of the programming, Dan takes control of the studio side of things and we have a couple of beta testers to bounce the products off before we release.

What is it about Reason that keeps you (and thousands of others) stick to this software? After all Propellerhead Software have gone against the trends and never implemented audio recording or VST support without losing its fans.

Reason is a very flexible program. It doesnt really matter what your level of expertise or what type of music you are making with it, if you use it as a sequencer, a plug in, or just a synth building tool. Reason allows you to go off in directions other software just does not allow.

With Record (Propellerheads’ new studio software) coming out this September, do you think the digital audio market will just get another product or is there a revolution lurking around?

Looking forward to it , I am sure its going to be huge. Whether or not its a game changer we will have to wait and see.

Last year Push Button Bang delivered two quite impressive and bold sound libraries – Dark Dub and Urban Technology. How was working on those different from Infinite Element?

The main difference is Infinite element is a sound design tool in its own right. Not only do you have the presets you also have the ability to reowrk any of the material from the ground up to very quickly make something that is totally unique to your music.

What are your personal musical inspirations? Is there a sound you strive for?

I think we are all looking for our sound, to one degreee or another. What we try and do is provide high quality, unique tools that will help people find the sound they want for themselves.

Can you give the present and future users of Infinite Elements some very personal tips?

It can be used in so many ways its hard to know where to start in terms of tips... I would just say take a bit of time having fun with it and experimenting. There is a lot you can do that might not appear evident on first glance, in terms of linking and routing machines to create new sounds and new ways of controlling  the evolution of those sounds in your music. The best advice is get stuck in and dont be afraid to mash things up!

After giving birth to such monster do you plan to give sound designing a rest or will you take advantage of the momentum?

Infinite elements is just one of a number of projects we have been working on. The dark house collection will be available in the next  few weeks , as well as serveral other titles in the next few months. We will mostly be working on making very focused packs ,most notable for ableton live ,although they will of course be available in a number of formats.
