Rootstep and Future Reggae from Loopmasters is an ambitious take on that modern, yet classic dub music. Deeply rooted in reggae, this library is a mid-size pack weighing in at 663 MB. With gigabytes and gigabytes of sample packs being released out there, don’t let the size of this library fool you. It has the all types of elements to jumpstart your creativity in composing rootstep, dub and dancehall, as well as other reggae sub-genre. Produced by Dubsalo, Rootstep and Future Reggae includes synth, bass, guitar, keys, drum variation, percussion, drum, hat, top drum, brass and FX loops, as well as drum hits, vocal shots, perc hits, instruments, snare rolls and bass multis. The vibe and overall sound of the samples themselves are true to the intended genre as they have that organic, dubby kinda feel. The guitar and drum loops folder are the strongest of the bunch, but I wish there were more brass ensemble loops included, though.

The performance and programming is superb and the drum loops are interesting to listen to. You can always create new drum patterns by mixing the drum with perc and/or top loops. I love Loopmasters when it comes to their “non-electronic’ library offerings, and this is one of them. Rootstep and Future Reggae is something worth considering.
