Inside lies 10 masterfully crafted construction kits, each carrying the unmistakable flavor of Soviet-era Armenian retro music, yet reborn for today. Expect live pianos, guitars, strings, mallets, and more, soaked in analogue warmth and designed to be sliced, sampled, and transformed.
Our earlybird finds himself near the famous old Rossiya movie theatre building, where the shadows of decades seem to cling to its walls. The heat of July presses in, a day without rain, a sky without relief. His mind wanders, split in two:
“For days now you wake and find yourself divided. One half still here—stuck in the late days of July, 1982—half-asleep, half-awake, understanding neither rest nor rising. The blood thins like water, the joints weaken, the mouth tastes of nothing—the day carried like a mule’s burden. And the other half is far away—twenty-five years down the road, filled with the urge to make a meaningful step on a summer’s day. Yet balance cannot be found when you are only half-whole.”
This is the weight and wonder of Rainless July, the forth chapter in Streamline Samples’ journey—a soundscape of what has been and what is yet to come. A dry, restless day, caught between nostalgia and anticipation.
With over 500MB of original material, Rainless July is at once so new and so old—a perfect companion for hip hop, lofi, downtempo, and experimental music.
We present a newly restored national treasure of Armenian music.
