We all know that a great drum library is never truly complete without a decent collection of 808 hits. This legendary drum machine is a staple in modern music production; it’s been used by countless producers and it's presence is instantly recognised in thousands of famous tracks.

This is why Blind Audio is more than happy to introduce Foundation - 808 Drums. A collection of oneshot samples taken directly from a genuine 808, recorded with a basic all-analog signal chain to capture the character and charm of this legendary analog drum box.

During the recording process we used an analog multi-distortion unit, both to boost the clean signal and to coax out some more aggressive sounds with saturation. The result is an authentic collection of sounds that range from clean & classic to dirty & oversaturated (and everything in between).

There was no further processing used during recording to ensure that the character of the original unit shines through. This minimal processing  means that these sounds are easy to bring into your own productions. Use your own effects and processing to sculpt them into the perfect fit for your style.

We've also included a few extras to get you started. You will find 5 fully featured Ableton Drum Racks (complete with macros & pre setup effects chains), as well as 50 MIDI drum loops and their corresponding WAV loops.

Updated for 2026

Foundation - 808 Drums has been updated for 2026 with even more sounds and production tools.

We’ve added 48 new one-shot samples, resampled using classic sampler techniques and arranged across 3 brand-new kits, giving the original recordings a fresh, characterful twist. Ableton users can load the new kits in Drum Rack format, complete with our usual selection of pre-mapped macros for quick and easy tweaking.

You’ll also find 45 new Drum MIDI files and their corresponding WAV loops, covering Electro, Techno and IDM for a fresh selection of grooves, rhythms and patterns. All MIDI files are now provided in standard General MIDI format too, making them compatible with a wider range of samplers, drum machines and production environments.

To expand the tonal side of the collection, we’ve taken some of the more pitched 808 sounds, tuned them and transformed them into 20 Ableton Instrument Racks, each with pre-mapped macros and carefully prepared effects chains. We used these sounds to create a selection of melodic loops and basslines for the demo, and those are included too, with both MIDI and WAV versions provided.

Whether you’re looking for authentic 808 one-shots, processed variations, ready-to-use drum kits, MIDI grooves or percussive melodic sounds, Foundation - 808 Drums gives you a versatile set of tools built around one of the most influential drum machines ever made.
