For his first Loopmasters outing, Shimmy Records boss El Train digs deep into his library of laid back digital funk and turns out 1.7GB of next-level grooves. Inspired by likeminded soul-sampling souls on the West Coast beats scene, the work here delves deep into that palette of organic melodies, tight high frequency tops, and cavernous basslines. Tempos span from 70-160bpm, and the musicianship is tight. The instruments are precisely recorded, and there are sweet harmonies and atmospheres everywhere, as well as countless pads, arp loops, drum hits, bass and synth multis, and well over 100 soft sampler patches to spin through. Perfect then, for forward-thinking hip-hop heads and R&B poducers looking for that raw, emotional vibe.
